Whitehorse Water Management Strategy
July 2021
From Whitehorse Council: “Whitehorse is developing a strategy in collaboration with Melbourne Water and Yarra Valley Water to manage all things water in Whitehorse more holistically. The strategy will address all elements in the urban water cycle to begin transitioning towards a water sensitive city. The main aim of the Water Management Strategy will be to build urban resilience and adapt to climate change.
This includes improving how we manage:
- creeks, waterways and wetlands,
- stormwater, flooding and drainage
- irrigation of parks and gardens
- alternative water sources.”
Whitehorse is inviting interested persons to complete a survey and to take part in a photo competition:
“Could you please spend a few minutes completing the online survey? The feedback from the survey will help us shape and prioritise the strategy. It would be great to gain your insights and to support the development of a draft strategy.
To complement the survey, we are running a photo competition to showcase what our community values about water in Whitehorse. Four lucky winners will win a $100 voucher for the Acre Farm Eatery at the Burwood Brickworks shopping complex. If you have any great photos of the creeks and wetlands, or anything water (rainfall, irrigation, drinking water etc.) in Whitehorse please enter.”
